1st Annual Charity Dodgeball Tournament

September 8, 2019

On September 7th 2019, I.AM.ROBOT 4810 and Crevolution Robotics 2851 hosted the first annual Charity Robo-Dodgeball Tournament at the Macomb Community College Sports and Expo Center. We raised over $1000 for our charity, A Beautiful Me, which is a Michigan-based organization that fosters the self-esteem and confidence of women of all ages. The organization’s booth at the event had poster making activities as well as information on volunteer opportunities and general information on what A Beautiful Me (ABME) is all about.

This event gave over 200 people the opportunity to get a deeper understanding of FIRST and its community, as well as an introduction to STEM in Macomb County. This was made possible by the seminars put on by A Damsel in Defense, Team 1718 The Fighting Pi, and ABME. We feel very grateful to have had these amazing organizations participate in our event!

As for the actual dodgeball tournament, the first place trophy went to Below Zero, a military team created for the purpose of giving back to charities through attending events like ours. Second place went to a team from the International Academy of Macomb and the third place spot went to a team made up of some adults and other, younger students from all over Macomb County.

Our team invited many sponsors and schools to our event. And this would not have been possible without Mark Hackel and the Macomb County Planning and Economic Development Department. We would like to give a special thank you to this amazing group of people for their assistance and participation in the event. We would also like to recognize our sponsors for this event, Lanzen Inc., Applied Imaging, CGC Water, Destaco, Kettering University, Macomb Community College, Macomb Planning and Economic Development, J's Silkscreens of Richmond, Damsel in Defense, Michigan State University Extension, Ally Bank, A Beautiful Me, Compassion, and WPS. Finally, we would like to give a huge thank you to Crevolution Robotics Team 2851 for their immense amount of help with putting on the event.
