FENTON DISTRICT EVENT!
Fenton was another successful competition for us. We
started off the event a little rocky, however, through help
of another team, we were able to diagnose an issue with
our batteries. Showing gracious professionalism, Team
68 Truck Town Thunder allowed us to temporarily
borrow one of their batteries. On another hand, Team
7762 AutoPilots lent us their battery cart for the
remainder of Fenton, and later for states. This helped us
get picked first in the fifth alliance for the playoffs at
Fenton. Thanks to a strong community in FIRST, we
ended the Fenton competition ranked fourteenthout
of forty-two teams, which was a step up from our Battle
Creek district event, where we ranked eighteen out of
thirty-nine teams.
BUILDING FUTURES!
We ended the competition with another high
note. Our team was awarded the Engineering
Inspiration award; this award celebrates a team
who demonstrates outstanding success in
advancing respect and appreciation for
engineering within their community. Our team
was awarded this in honor of our outreach pro-
grams, where we host summer STEM camps, as
well as many other events that help bring FIRST
and STEM to our community. We could not do
all that we do without your support. This award
is dedicated to our sponsors and our students,
who give their time and support to our team.
MICHIGAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!
Through the Impact Award at Battle Creek and the
Engineering Inspiration Award at Fenton, our team
qualified for the Michigan State Championship at
Saginaw Valley State University. At the competition, our
team went 6-0 in our first six matches and finished
Friday ranked 1st out of 41 teams. We ended Saturday
with a 7-4 record, which was five more wins than 4810’s
last trip to states in 2023. Our team was not selected to
compete in playoffs; However, we were the first backup
team in case a robot broke down. This allowed us to
compete for one match with the first alliance. We
finished States ranked 18 out of 41 teams in our division,
and finished our season ranked 141 out of 619 teams in
Michigan, higher than we have ever been before. While
our team did not make it to Worlds, we had a very good
run this season and we could not have done it without all
of our gracious sponsors. Thank you to all of those who
support our team and our commitment to building the
futures of those we reach.
OPEN HOUSE
Our team hosted our second annual Sponsorship
Open House Event on Wednesday, April 22nd. This
event allowed us to show our sponsors what we
do at our facility, how their contributions to our team
help us do what we do, and get an update on how our
season went. We also invited two incoming students
on our team to this event; they got to learn about how
we run our team and what they will be doing with us
starting this summer.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARD
The FIRST Leadership Award recognizes the dedication and
individual contributions of outstanding students. Logan
Pegher, a junior on our team, was nominated by our mentors
for being dedicated to all he does on the team. Deservingly,
Logan qualified for the leadership award semi-finals at the
Fenton District Competition. Later, at states, Logan took a
step further and qualified for leadership award finals in
Houston, Texas at the worlds competition. Logan has always
been an asset and shares his bubbly with everyone he meets.
He takes team spirit to the next level, and always takes charge
whenever he can. We are proud that he is able to share his
personality with others at the worlds competition.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Our team has started preparing for our annual summer
STEM camps. Our camps are a week-long event
designed by our students to help engage K-8 students
in STEM and FIRST. So far we have two of these
camps scheduled for the summer and are continuing to
plan more summer outreach and robotics fun;
including our team summer barbeque, where we
celebrate the season and enjoy good food as a team.
