Trinity Camp:
From July 7 -16, our team ran a STEM
camp for the students of Trinity Lutheran
Schools. Our team, aided by NHS
volunteers, gave the students hands-on
experience with multiple areas of STEM,
from learning electrical with breadboards
to finding solutions to common problems
at school. This all culminated into a game
where groups of students designed, built,
and programmed their own robots to
compete in a game. The kids had a great
time at this camp and we are looking
forward to hosting it in the future!
Iroquois Camp:
After wrapping up our Trinity Camp, we
started planning our second, similar camp
for Iroquois Middle School. Our Iroquois
Camp is five days long, with each day
holding a different purpose. Much like the
Trinity Camp, one day is designated for
teaching each sub-team’s purpose. Initially,
we start the first day with design, then
build, electrical, and lastly programming.
At the end of the camp, we host the same
competition for Iroquois as we did for
Trinity. We are so happy to have new
students from each camp joining our team
and getting to experience and have fun in
STEM.
Kiwanis at The Pantry:
During this time, a few of our students were invited to the Kiwanis monthly meeting.
There, the students spoke about how robotics
betters them as people, what it takes to run a
FIRST team, and ways that the team gives back
to the community. We are so happy as a team to
have shared that moment with them, and we are
looking forward to sharing many more moments
in the future. We thank the Kiwanis so much for
such an opportunity.
